HI. I am very pleased to be a new tutor with the school. I am Joanne Brooker and I am taking the Book Illustration course. I worked for ten years as an editorial illustraotr for news Ltd. I have a LOT of experience matching words to images. I teach a practical fun way to create your own artwork from words and stories. Hi. I am thrilled to be able to return to tutor the Pastel class at MSCA next summer and have developed a new program - THE MAGIC OF WATER, where you will discover it's magic and vibrancy in the various forms that it takes; including rivers, lakes, seascapes, boats & reflections, calm waters, waves, ripples and so on. I will share with students a way of seeing so that they discover what makes a painting special and masterful. Photographing the nude is not easy, but once you have mastered a few basic techniques, you can photograph anybody - clothed or unclothed. And, if you can photograph people, Landscape photography is a breeze. Because it doesn't move!

I’m thrilled that the Murrumbidgee School is to continue. As a tutor I feel fortunate to be able to share my passion for painting the wildlife and companion animals that enhances our lives. Their variety and beauty and adds joy and wonder to our world.
My students at Bathurst have traveled from as far as Perth and Mackay to attend my workshops. Students come with a variety of goals and expectations. For some it’s as modest as being able to recognise the creature they paint for others it’s to lift their work to another level. Some hope to have a magical technique revealed. I do share the techniques that I have learned or that were generously passed on to me by masters of wildlife art. However the key to the often dramatic lift in quality of the work at workshops comes from with in the student themselves. The greatest obstacle to great work is the self imposed limits and expectations of the students them selves. Great work comes one brush stroke at a time. Teaching the techniques helps strip away some of the mystery but self belief transforms students work.
